in many other restaurant but the one in here is THE BEST.
That many of my friends say.

Purple Taro soup, smooth and natural chicken soup taste

Sweet & Fish Sauce Mushroom in Clay Pot

With many kinds of mashuroomes with thick taste, sizzling in the pot.
I can eat whole bowl of rice with this dish.

Vinegar Beef Pot

Interesting hot pot. Not so may place provides this dish.
Looks like Japanese Shabu Shabu but boil the ingredients with vinegar soup.
I see the surface of meat quickly cooked by vinegar first to avoid all the
taste goes out into the boiling soup. I never had it before but I like this.

You have a many more choices in the menu, there are some who can speak
English well, Interiors are nice, comfortable, reliable restaurant.

Secret Garden

It's in a secret hidden place, inside the HEM the blind alley,
You have to go up dark narrow stairs (makes me nervous always)
then you find beautiful garden on the roof top!

Usually tourists should not go in to this kind of place, dark, old,
looks non safety place but in Ho Chi Minh. It's like treasure hunting
to find nice restaurants or beautiful cafe in the hidden place like here.




A lots of photos in the menu.
Fun to see, good to eat.

Pork roast is the simple dish but don's miss this.
The quality of pork in Viet Nam is so high, you can taste its' fat
sweet and crispy. I feel it's equal or more than Japanese branding pork.


Unique recipe, Stuffed lemon grass with pork meat.
This is how they put the meat in the grass.
Charcoal-grilled juicy pork with fresh aromas are wonderful.


Shrimp Ajillo Vietnamese style
Not too oily but thicken sweet fish sauce taste.
Good to go with rice or Banh Mi the Vietnamese bagette.


Bagna cauda Vietnamese style with many kinds of vegetables.
I loooove the vegetables in Vietnam. Taste vivid and nutritional,
best mach with Kho Quet the thick sauce for this.

Beautiful and comfortable restaurant.
They have more than hundreds of traditional food



They are famous
for Flying over cooked rice performance. Here is my suggestion, do not
order but enjoy to see it. I'm sure somebody or few table close to you
order that so that you can see what is it like. Yes it's nice to see but
no that good for eating though...

But for the others!!
You have so many choices of good food, some are so much interesting,
unusual (for Japanese) ingredients gets me so excited always like
Wild borer, BABA the vietnamese soft shel turtle or so son.
If you wanna try those, it's better to make sure on the phone before you go.





One of my favorite in this restaurant is Pig's brain with clams.
I've had it before in some other countries but the best in Vietnam.

I know it doesn't look that attractive but it tastes like FUGU SHIRAKO,
the Pufferfish Milt that is so expensive in Japan. I've heard that pig's brain
is so popular in Viet Nam and the eats believes "Eat brain Get better brain".
It doesn't work for me anyway but it's surely enjoyable.

Specialized and Small restaurant

Ut Ca Mau

If you like crab, don't think just come to this restaurant straight away.
Also good for beer lovers. You can enjoy local beer at about $7 for 2 litters.


They sell crabs by grams and you have 3-4 ways to cook with chili, tamarind,
curry, garlic or so son.
This is soft shell crab fried with garlic, my favorite most in this restart.
It's the best if it's in the season for them to have eggs.

Fried rice with crab meat also nice.
Vietnamese rice are so good for fried rice.
I never had bad one so far in Ho Chi Minh.

Chill Crab also nice.. So much cheeper than to have this in Singapore,
valuable and tasty.


Don't forget to order Banh Mi the Vietnamese Baguette for the curb with sauce
or you gonna miss the best bart.


If you are more than 3-4 people, you can enjoy
Crab Hot Pot with coconut juice soup.
Tomato and some fruits gives slight sweet and sour taste,
not too salty but tasty.


Don't put the noodle in the pot like what the Japanese do.
Rice noodle given is already boiled enough so just take them into
small bowl you are using and pour the soup on top.

Crab meat spring role or some other appetizers are also nice.
They are so good to go with beer.


If you like to enjoy the crab taste as itself, you can order
Steam in the Pot.

Don't ever miss Banh Mi Viet Nam when you come to Ho Chi Minh.
It looks like baguette sandwich but it's totally deferent.

It was kind a shock to me when I had this at first time.
Crispy outside like french baguette but inside is sooooo fluffy
like cotton candy with aroma with fresh bread. 
i've never had the bread like this in any other place.

They put a lots of vegetable inside, pates if you want, some shop
gives fried egg inside. You can find this Banh MI Viet Nam in
everywhere actually BUT this is the best!!


It suppose to be for a breakfast but this shop open only from 3 or 4 pm.
There'a line always but the lady in the shop makes this sandwich so quickly
that you can't see what she's doing. Most of the time you don't have to
wait that long so don't worry.


It's the best to bite it right after you got it on the street.
I always buy a coffee or beer before I come to this shop,
eat them just in front of there.

No problem to drink beer on the street in Viet Nam buy the way.
Or you can say STREET is the bar or restaurant for them ;p

My favorite break fast in Viet Nam style.
I think this recipe came from Chinese Dim Sum but they modified
the taste into Vietnamese style, I like it better than original.


You might able to see how they cook it.
They steam the rice powder dough piece by piece carefully,
and roll the minced pork meat with it. It's very simple way of cooking but
need so much experiences to do that.

Actually I tried to do that in house quite a few times then I found
it's better to come here if I want to have this.

Pour enough fish source on the table and I never miss Chili paste
to have this. Just for a few $ per place, small but just nice for breakfast.

Ner the Tay Ho restaurant intruded above.
They have some light meal but here is for CHE the Vietnamese dessert.
No other place have so many kinds of CHE like here, you can enjoy one of
the typical Vietnamese food culture.



I recommend to go upstairs. No air-conditioner but more green and windy.


CHE is the general way of calling Vietnamese dessert.
They boil various kinds of ingredients like water chestnut, lotus, lotus seed,
some fruits or potato, eat with light sweet syrup. Or mix with coconut milk
and ice, It doesn't look fancy like European cakes but natural and healthy.
Simple the best.

Lotus seed is symbolic ingredient in Viet Nam, one of the treasure
of Chinese herbal medicine, adjust the balance of internal organs,
gives you an energy.

Baked banana with coconut milk is my favorite, Coconut pudding in
coconut shell also nice. They open from morning to night, lunch time
is so crowded.
